International missions conference in Norwich

MissionWE22010: Adventure and exploration is the theme of an International Missions conference being held in Norwich this weekend.

Over 30 Christian mission-based organizations will be taking part in the event on February 20 and 21, hosted by International Gospel Outreach (IGO) and Norwich Family Life Church and being held at the Old MFI Building, Barker Street, City Gate Estate, Norwich NR2 4TQ.

This is the first time Norwich has hosted the event which has previously been held in various areas of the UK.   There is no entry charge and there is plenty of free parking.

The theme of the weekend is one of adventure and exploration and is based on the verse in Acts 1:8 where Jesus tells us that we will receive power and be his witnesses in Jerusalem, Judaea, all Samaria and the ends of the earth.  There will be a flight simulator together with themed international areas, including an interactive adventure area for children.

Over 30 Christian organisations such as Mercy Fliers, European Christian Mission, Vision for China and Street Pastors will be displaying information about their work both here and overseas. People are travelling in from all over the UK as well as parts of the world including Africa and South America.

MissionWE3In addition to all the stalls and exhibits there will be three sessions during Saturday (10 am to 12 noon, 3 to 5 pm and 7 to 9pm) and one on Sunday morning (10 am to 12 noon) where there will be an opportunity to hear from people who are reaching out to the world, both locally and internationally.

Children’s sessions (Reception to Year 6) will run concurrently with the main sessions with a special children’s worker from Wales to lead these times.

Kingsley Armstrong (President of IGO and Associate Pastor at NFLC) said: “We are seeking to be an influence for God in both in the city of Norwich, the UK and beyond.   As you wander around the stalls and exhibits allow God to extend the borders of your dreams. Go with each to their part of the globe and see through another’s eyes.

“May your visit to this place and these meetings bless you and challenge you. Our desire is to encourage and support those who do go, inspire others to get involved and see the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ preached to every tribe and nation on the face of the earth.”

MissionWE1Meals are available at a very low price (Saturday lunch, tea and supper) at about £2 each to include dessert.  Sunday lunch will be a traditional roast dinner at £4 including dessert. (Children charged at half price.)  Doors open at 9.30 Saturday morning.

“The weekend is for everyone - young and old – you can come for part or all of the day and be inspired, empowered and equipped to be a blessing wherever you go,” said Kingsley.

If possible (but not essential) phone to book your meals/register your children on 01603 620444 or for more information on 01603 620444.
