Norfolk Christian football league winners crowned
The winners of the two men’s divisions of the Norfolk Christian Football League have been crowned and presented with their trophies after another successful season draws to a close.
The
Division 1 title was reclaimed by
Norwich Central Baptist Church who surrendered their crown in the last two seasons to the all-conquering
UEA Rovers side.
NCBC were presented with the Division 1 Shield after beating
Wildlife in their last game of the season on April 26. Presenting the trophy, league vice chairman,
Jim Green, said: NCBC deserved the title having lost only twice all season, as a team who know how to play football in every sense.”
In an exciting climax in
Division 2, Blofield beat
Sheringham Lighthouse 7-1 in their final game on April 19 to claim the league title by a single point from runners-up
Kings Palace.
Jim Green said that it was exciting to see a team that just two seasons ago had been playing at U16 level winning the men’s Division 2.
“Last season Blofield won the Fair Play Trophy, despite winning very few games,” said Jim. “So it is great to see a team showing that they knew how to lose gracefully going on to show they know how to win.”
The NCFL season’s climax begins this weekend,
Saturday May 3, with the
youth league cup finals at
Thorpe High School. Under 12 between
Brooke Adventurers and
Heartsease Youth and
Under 14 between
Bowthorpe St Peter’s and
ENYP at 11.15am and the
Under 16 final at 12.20pm between
Sheringham Lighthouse and
Holy Trinity (Red).
