Norwich project marks ten years of Peru work

HopeFreedomCelebration320Norwich-based Christian social action project Hope and Song to Freedom has celebrated its tenth anniversary of making a difference in the lives of those who suffer injustices in Lima, Peru.

Project founders, Norwich couple Andy and Liz Lake invited friends and supporters to a celebration on June 6. Liz said: “Some of those attending have been involved since the beginning, others have come on board more recently, but it was good to be able to gather together to look back over a decade of being able to make a difference in the lives of those who suffer injustices in Lima, Peru.”

Liz and Andy also reported back on their recent trip to Lima and spoke of hopes and dreams for the future.

"We think of our logo in particular today," said Liz "and the picture of an oak tree.  It always starts with a little acorn".

HopeFreedomCake320It was ten years ago when Liz first sent toiletries to Santa Monica prison and linked women from the fellowship group there with women from different churches in Norfolk.  Little did she know then that  ten years later Hope and Song to Freedom would have become a project which continues to grow and make a difference to many women who have suffered many injustices the other side of the world.

Liz and Andy are always glad of an opportunity to tell the story and share about what God is doing in Peru and would love to speak at other churches.  Hope and Song to Freedom is part of the Grassroots Trust.

More information about the project is also available on their website: www.hopesongfreedom.org.uk
