A treble win for Norwich Christian football team

ENYPfootball
ENYP's football team had a very successful season in the Norfolk Christian Youth Football League winning the treble – U14 league, U14 cup and U14 5-a-side. They celebrated with a presentation evening for players, parents, friends and family.

Throughout the season the team have worked well together and have shown signs of improvement, not only through their achievements, but in their attitude, sportsmanship, teamwork, and knowing how to set an example.  Some of these attributes have encouragingly been biblical, for example the significance and importance of Ephesians 4v29 has been highlighted over the course of the season (“Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up”.

Over the winter period ENYP took part in the FA Peoples Cup a national 5-a-side tournament, with a chance to lift the trophy at Wembley at stake for whoever won. Unfortunately the team were knocked out on penalties at the quarter-final stage of the regionals, but the team did themselves proud and conducted themselves week, evidencing a fantastic example of what it means to be a team.

ENYPfootball2CFAs the end of the 2014/15 season approached ENYP won the League title for the U14s and then set to play the cup final against Heartsease Black.  The final match was a testament to the team’s attitude as they constantly built each other up, and were examples of excellent footballers.  This comfortable win saw ENYP wrap up the league and cup double.

The Norfolk Christian Youth Football League always finish their season with their annual 5-a-side competition. This year’s competition saw ENYP continue to show off their development as a team, as players led responsibly through taking charge of team talks, building each other up and offered tactical insight.  This team ethic served ENYP well as completed an historic treble winning campaign by dramatically defeating Surrey Chapel in the final.

The season was officially rounded off with ENYP putting on a presentation evening to celebrate the team’s achievements together and on an individual basis.  Players, their parents, friends and family attended the presentation evening.  Danny Doran-Smith, Director of ENYP and former Manager of the football team in previous seasons, shared some thoughts during the evening about how well the team had worked together over the last 4 years.  Tom Woods, current U14 Team Manager gave awards to each of the players for their contribution to the squad, recognising each individual’s part in what has been a historic season.

Tom Woods, football team manager, said “there are many people who have contributed to this season and I’d like to express my thanks to the squad, volunteers, parents and the ENYP team for your support to the team during the season – it has been greatly appreciated.  The players have an amazing set of traits, and the passion you have shown for this team has been inspirational”.

The players shared: “It's been a good season, first time we have won all three – what a credit to the lads” and “it’s been a very good season, am glad I could play and look forward to next season so we can keep improving.  Thanks Tom for being a great manager we couldn’t have done it without you”.
