A seven-goal thriller decided the eventual winners of this year’s Norfolk Christian Football League Bishop’s Cup trophy - Norwich Central Baptist Church.

NCBC opened up a massive four-goal half-time lead against opponents Stalham Baptist at Mulbarton United’s Mulberry Park, courtesy of goals from Matt Bolton, Matthew Price, Kevin Finch and Chris Morgan, in front a crowd of around 100.

The game seemed all over, but NCBC counted without a spirited comeback from Stalham. Second half goals from Tom Shirley, Neil Harris and Jeff Shirley saw a tense last 15 minutes when Stalham thought they had equalised only to have the goal ruled out for offside.

League chairman, Pete Loughborough, said: “It was a very entertaining match and my heart was in my mouth towards the end of the game.”

Earlier in the day, a young but skilful Witard Road Baptist side took on the UEA Christian Union team in a repeat of last year’s final in the Wroxham Road Memorial Shield final, also held at Mulbarton.
