Norwich cathedral launch for Reuben's Font

Blogger Reuben Coe, who writes stories about travel, fitness and his life with Down's Syndrome, recently paid a visit to Norwich Cathedral to see how his personally designed typeface - Reuben's Font - is being put to use to help promote cathedral events for families and young people.

On Monday January 18 Norwich cathedral launched their new branding for events aimed at families and young people and were delighted to welcome Reuben Coe.

The cathedral is adopting a new font, Reuben's Font, which is based on the hand writing of thirty-two year old Reuben, who lives with Down's Syndrome. The typeface can be seen on posters for Experiment in the Cathedral! event, a day of fun planned for Saturday March 12 as part of their forthcoming Science Festival.

Whilst Rueben now lives in Spain, he has been in the UK recently visiting his parents who live in Hellesdon, so he took the opportunity to see how Norwich cathedral have been putting his amazing font to use.

Reuben grew up in Newbury, Berkshire, and moved to the Costa del Sol three years ago, where he has been embarking on new adventures with his brother Manni. One such adventure has been the launch of the Reuben's World website, which has been running for 10 months after being successfully crowd-funded through a campaign on the website Indiegogo. The website includes a blog that focuses on Reuben's lifestyle, with pieces about travel, healthy-eating, friendships and life as an ex-pat. What makes Reuben Coe unique as a blogger is that he is living with Down's Syndrome, and central to the blog's mission is a desire to demonstrate the possibilities for enjoying a fulfilling lifestyle, with optimism and imagination, whilst facing the challenges presented by the condition.

Reuben's most recent post is a feature on the Nantucket Turkey Plunge, a charity event which saw him jumping into the Atlantic ocean with hundreds of other swimmers while he was visiting his brother Nathan for Thanksgiving. These stories have been an inspiration to families and individuals affected by Down's Syndrome across the world, and Reuben donates all money raised through the blog to Water Aid as a way of reciprocating the help he has received from other people.

Although Reuben's Font can be downloaded for free, the Cathedral will be donating to Water Aid to say thanks for the value it will add to their future marketing campaigns.

Be sure to look out for Reuben's Font on cathedral literature in the future and please take a look at ReubensWorld.com for yourself to learn more about Reuben's ambitions and escapades.
