Norwich church gives vouchers to people at risk

Norwich-based church Proclaimers has been able to raise thousands of pounds for families in need. And money continues to come in. Eldred Willey reports.

During this Covid-19 lockdown the church’s donations have been converted into food vouchers for various grocery stores. Through the social arm of the church “Love Norwich” and “Love Ipswich” the members of Proclaimers have donated to help families buy needed food supplies. The church has been working with its network of other local charities to identify families in need and distribute these funds.

Pastor Tom Rawls said: “I was not surprised to see the incredible generosity of our people during this difficult time in our city. There has been an outpouring of love and generosity towards others during this tough time.

“Through another of the church’s charities, “Hope For Latvia” our church has been able to help pay for a key church worker’s ear operation to totally restore her hearing. Sascha, an active member of Good News Church Riga, can now hear. We’re so excited to have such an impact on this woman’s life and family.”

Good network relations with Good News Church in Riga give the opportunity to touch the lives of many in need. The charity helps students to get to University to obtain qualifications and help break the cycles of poverty in one of Europe’s poorest nations. Proclaimers has worked in Latvia now for over 10 years.

Proclaimers is a multi-site church in Norwich with campuses in Ipswich and Bratislava. It conducts online church services on Sundays at 10:30am and on Tuesday nights at 8pm.
