Network Norfolk man lights up Christmas

A member of the Network Norfolk editorial team is bringing some festive joy to his neighbourhood by decorating his house and garden with thousands of Christmas lights. Tony Rothe reports.

Tony and Maggie Rothe started decorating their Sheringham home for Christmas when they were newly married, 31 years ago, and have gradually built up their display year by year ever since. They now have about 265 sets of lights, amounting to over 22,000 bulbs.

“We do this to bring some light and colour into the darkest days of the year” added Maggie. “Jesus made it clear He was the Light of the World, so it seems appropriate to bring a bit of light at Christmas time into our world here in Sheringham.
