Norwich CAP celebrates 25 years of hope

Norwich Central Debt Centre is celebrating 25 years of debt help charity Christians Against Poverty with a ‘month of hope’.

Norwich Central Debt Centre is marking 25 years of its partner charity, Christians Against Poverty (CAP) by carrying out acts of kindness throughout November.

Members of the CAP team, CAP clients and the Surrey Chapel church family are working together to complete 25 acts of kindness during November, culminating in a church service called CAP Sunday which will take place on the November 26.

Christians Against Poverty (CAP) is a UK charity determined to reduce UK poverty delivering debt counselling, money management, job clubs and life skills groups.

Over the next month, people will be delivering freshly baked cakes to neighbours, washing cars, connecting with elderly people, running family fun activities, offering DIY help, and doing sponsored bike rides - to name just a few of the challenges. Each act is designed to encourage the recipient, and to spread the word about CAP’s free debt help and job clubs.

Christina Brailsford, community links co-ordinator for the Centre, said, “we want to raise awareness locally about the free support that CAP can offer, and spread some joy and hope as we celebrate the charity’s milestone year. So many in our community have had a really tough couple of years; it’s great to be able to reach out and bring some happiness to people.”

CAP Norwich Central Centre Manager, Gary Ryan, added, ‘Our Centre is here for anyone in our community who needs free debt help. We can offer 1-1 support with managing financial difficulties - including dealing with insolvency and bankruptcy - and we also welcome those seeking employment to join our friendly and supportive Job Club. We want our ‘month of hope’ to tell people they are not alone, help is available, and there is always hope.’

If you are struggling with debt and need help, get in contact with CAP today on 0800 328 0006 or visit capuk.org.
